Job Description
  • You will be responsible for the Secondary section (Girls) of the school and any other area detailed by the Head of School or Principal.
  • Follow and support school aims, policies and practices of learning, behaviour, appraisal & assessment policies.
  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Liaise with Administration, Key Stage Leaders, form tutors, parents and subject teachers as necessary.
  • Contributing to the strategic leadership of the school as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Liaise with the Registrar/MMT regarding new students’ needs, induction procedures, admission testing, prom etc.
  • Ensure provision of support classes / activity programme, educational trips, assemblies, sports day prize day.
  • Assist with Parent-Teacher meetings, Charity drives, GEMS initiatives, and other major school events.
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects the needs of the pupils and the standards and content required by the necessary educational board.
  • Work with the HODs and coordinators to ensure continuity &progression in terms of the school curriculum.
  • Chair meetings & committees as required.
  • Manage budgets and undertake teaching and other professional duties as reasonably delegated by the Principal / Head of School.
  • Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers.
  • Ensure effective teamwork with teaching staff in the section.
  • Ensure the other supervisory staff develops skills in academic work and supervision.
  • Ensure the high quality of learning & teaching across the school as judged by GEMS Educational standards.
Skills
  • Detailed knowledge of the United Arab Emirates education sector with a demonstrated ability to engage with school leaders, senior executives and influencer organizations at the
emirate and national level. * Advanced communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Mature in approach, decision-making and follow through.
  • Self-starter who takes initiatives and can exemplify the institution culture during interactions.
  • Ability to motivate and engage extended teams to plan and execute strategies and
projects * Strives for improvement with record in meeting aggressive school targets against closely measured goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, without distractions.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to and drive change as required.
