- Review legal provisions of standard contracts when forwarded by other team members
- Review and draft non-standard contracts, including developing new complex agreements from scratch
- Solve queries from internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to contractual compliance, regulations, compliance etc.
- Maintain and update a data base of contract templates and clauses
- State up-to-date with the market development in terms of legal and compliance software; AI
- Propose and lead digitalization efforts, working closely with IT Department
- Assist with regulatory compliance and corporate governance matters
- Conduct due diligence on customers, suppliers and business partners and maintain DD documents archives
- Update and develop new compliance trainings; conduct ad hoc compliance session as a proactive or reactive (post-incident) measure
- Develop and implement compliance reporting system across all departments
- Handle debt collecting agencies and maintain a tracker of recovered funds, working closely with Credit Control Department Provide
- Provide regular reports to GC on the debt collection efforts
- Liaise with IR (International Registry) to explore the option of aircraft lien registration before any FOS agreement is executed
- Suggest other credit control measures proactively (corporate parent guarantees; bank guarantees; liens over other assents; etc.)
- Prepare cases for litigations / arbitrations (draft and furnish Letters Before Actions; draft Settlement Agreements; work with external law firms to deliver evidence and information gathered internally and ensure the case is well prepared for the court)
- Maintain a tracker of litigation/arbitration cases and a tracker of legal costs; report to GC regularly on both
- Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization
- Proactively do the gap analysis across organization and suggest improvement aimed to efficient contract management and robust compliance
- Adhere to the documented procedures of the organization or department and retain documented evidence related to the performance of their role.
- The employee is expected to exercise their duty of care, and must be aware of their health and safety responsibilities, accountability and authority; and shall comply with the policies and procedures outlined by the organization.
- Common law degree (LLB or equivalent, as a minimum)
- 3 to 5 years of PQE
- In-house legal experience (aviation sector preferred)
- Fluency in business English (spoken and written)
- Comfortable liaising with executive management, regulatory bodies, and external counsels
- Strong capacity for independent work; ability to supervise a small legal team (up to 3)
- Previous law firm experience is a distinct advantage
- Arabic language skills are a plus, but not required
- Operates with a high degree of integrity and sound judgment
