- Lead the legal and compliance function of the fund, overseeing all legal matters and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Provide expert guidance and advice on legal and regulatory issues impacting the firm's operations and investment activities.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Review and negotiate legal agreements, contracts, and transactions, including high yield investments and other complex financial instruments.
- Work closely with investment teams to assess legal risks associated with various investment opportunities and provide recommendations to mitigate such risks.
- Represent the firm in interactions with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external legal counsel.
- Advise and support the investment committees on legal and compliance matters, including presenting recommendations and providing insights on potential legal implications of investment decisions.
- Stay abreast of developments in laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the investment fund industry, and ensure that the firm's policies and practices remain up-to-date and in compliance.
- Lead and mentor a team of legal and compliance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within the department.
- Minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in leading the legal function of a buy-side financial institution.
- Previous experience working in a top-tier international law firm is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience advising on high yield investments and other complex financial transactions.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing investment funds and financial services in Abu Dhabi and internationally.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and mentor a team of legal and compliance professionals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior executives, investment committees, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
