The Research Assistant will work on the Tiramisu programming framework, a compiler technology designed to generate highly optimized code for multicore processors, GPUs, FPGAs, and distributed systems. The role centers on developing machine learning and deep learning techniques to automate code optimization decisions, improving execution performance without requiring manual tuning by expert programmers.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on compiler optimization techniques using machine learning and deep learning
- Contribute to the design and enhancement of automatic optimization modules within the Tiramisu framework
- Develop compiler passes that select optimal code transformations for performance
- Analyze the impact of optimizations such as vectorization, parallelization, fusion, and blocking
- Run experiments to evaluate performance across different hardware architectures
- Review relevant literature in compilers, machine learning, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners on research-driven development
- Prepare research outputs for publication and practical use by framework users
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Master's degree preferred
- Background or internship experience in compilers and or artificial intelligence
- Strong programming skills and understanding of performance optimization concepts
- Ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
