Job DescriptionJob Description We are seeking a Research Assistant for a 1-year preclinical research project investigating the cardioprotective and anti-fibrotic effects of pirfenidone in rat models of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and isoproterenol-induced cardiac injury and fibrosis. The position involves supporting animal experiments, physiological monitoring, tissue collection, biochemical and molecular laboratory analyses, data management, and day-to-day coordination of project activities within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. Key Responsibilities • Assist with animal handling, dosing, monitoring, and experimental procedures in accordance with approved animal ethics and biosafety protocols • Perform or support physiological assessments, including blood pressure and heart rate monitoring • Assist with tissue harvesting, sample processing, storage, and documentation • Support biochemical and molecular assays, including ELISA, Western blot, oxidative stress assays, and related laboratory procedures • Support histopathology workflows, including tissue fixation, section preparation, staining, and image/data organization • Maintain accurate experimental records, sample inventories, and research data; assist with data entry, quality control, and preliminary analysis • Coordinate routine laboratory and project activities, including procurement, scheduling, and reporting support • Demonstrate reliability, efficiency, and strong organizational skills in laboratory and animal research activitiesMinimum QualificationBachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or a related fieldPreferred Qualification
