We're supporting an international energy and industrial group in the expansion of their sustainable fuels and alternative commodities desk. They are looking to hire an experienced Alternative Fuel Trader to lead physical trading activities across a diverse range of fuels including RDF, biomass, coal, used cooking oils (UCOs), and woodchips. This is a high-impact role driving both commercial returns and sustainability targets.Key Responsibilities:Source, negotiate, and execute physical trades across a portfolio including RDF, biomass, woodchips, coal, and UCOsManage relationships with suppliers, industrial buyers (e.g., cement plants, power producers), and logistics providersStructure offtake and supply agreements with a focus on margin and risk managementMonitor market trends, pricing movements, and regulatory frameworks in the alternative fuel spaceCollaborate closely with operations, logistics, sustainability, and compliance teams to ensure smooth executionBuild a commercially viable trading book with both existing and new counterpartiesSupport decarbonisation strategies and ESG-driven fuel sourcing initiativesTravel as required to maintain on-the-ground relationships across regionsKey Requirements:3-8 years of experience in physical trading of alternative fuels or commodities (e.g., RDF, biomass, coal, UCOs, woodchips)Strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to close and manage trades end-to-endExisting network of suppliers and/or buyers across relevant marketsFamiliarity with logistics and quality considerations for bulk and liquid fuelsEntrepreneurial mindset, comfortable building and scaling a bookFluent in English; additional regional languages an advantageWillingness to travel regionally/internationally as needed
