This role works closely with trading teams to provide legal support on daily transactions, contracts, and regulatory matters. It plays a key role in managing legal risks, ensuring compliance, and supporting commercial activities within a fast-paced trading environment.Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on crude oil and refined products trading activities
- Draft, review, and negotiate trading agreements including SPAs, GTCs, and framework contracts
- Advise on shipping and logistics matters such as charterparties and bills of lading
- Support trade finance documentation including letters of credit and security arrangements
- Provide guidance on regulatory, compliance, and risk-related matters
- Collaborate with traders, operators, and risk teams on transactions and dispute resolution
- Qualified lawyer with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience
- Experience in a law firm or in-house trading environment
- Exposure to commodities trading or shipping law preferred
- Strong understanding of oil and gas trading structures is advantageous
- Commercial mindset with ability to work closely with front-office teams
- Detail-oriented, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Contract drafting and negotiation
- Legal risk assessment and compliance
- Knowledge of commodities trading and shipping law
- Trade finance documentation
- Stakeholder communication and advisory
