Civil/Structural Inspector
SSH
- United Arab Emirates
- Permanent
- Full-time
- Monitor and inspect all civil/structural installations, including enabling works, foundations, piling, and superstructure, to ensure compliance with approved drawings and method statements.
- Specialized Inspections:
- Enabling & Piling: Verify survey coordinates and points. Inspect pile reinforcement cages and casings; attend and record results for pile load/integrity tests.
- Post-Tension (PT) Slabs: Supervise the installation of tendons, monitor the stressing process, and verify de-shuttering periods based on concrete strength results.
- Concrete Technology: Supervise concrete casting techniques, verify fresh concrete tests (slump, temperature), and ensure proper curing procedures are followed.
- Inspect all structural materials delivered to the site (reinforcement, structural steel, additives) for compliance with approved submittals. Verify steel reinforcement detailing and installation against bar bending schedules (BBS).
- Supervise the installation and erection of structural steel frames and architectural façade systems for alignment and structural integrity.
- Issue Field Observation Reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) immediately upon identifying deviations. In consultation with the RE, issue violation notices or stop-work orders for non-compliant or unsafe structural work.
- Maintain precise daily logs and supplement all inspection records with detailed photographs. Ensure all QA/QC documents (IRs, MIRs) are processed within the mandated turnaround time.
- Update the Resident Engineer/Discipline Engineer on site progress, potential risks, quality issues, and HSE matters. Notify management immediately of any serious structural or safety incidents.
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of total experience, with at least 7-8 years specifically in Site Inspection within a Consultancy or Supervision firm.
- Proven ability to check coordinates/survey points, inspect piling reinforcement, and interpret pile test results.
- Hands-on experience in post-tension slab installation and stressing sequences.
- Thorough knowledge of concrete casting techniques, fresh concrete testing, and complex steel reinforcement detailing.
- Experience overseeing the installation of structural steel and high-rise façade systems.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Meticulous attention to detail regarding structural tolerances, reinforcement spacing, and surveying accuracy.
- A “safety-first” mindset, ensuring that no structural shortcuts are taken that could compromise the building’s long-term stability.
- Ability to quickly interpret complex structural drawings and bar bending schedules to identify potential errors before casting.
- The confidence to reject non-compliant reinforcement or stop a concrete pour if site conditions do not meet the specification.
- Capable of managing interfaces between structural elements and MEP penetrations/architectural finishes to prevent site clashes.
- Proactive in suggesting code-compliant solutions when unforeseen site conditions (e.g., soil issues or existing utilities) affect the structural design.
- Ensuring that every structural stage is backed by accurate, dated, and photographed records to protect the consultancy and client.
