The position requires attention to detail, ensuring that specialty items such as refreshing cocktails, specialty beachside snacks, and gourmet meals are delivered with promptness, professionalism, and care. The Specialty Runner also assists in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pool and beachside service areas, contributing to the overall guest experience by ensuring a seamless flow of service in these unique, outdoor settings.Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages to guests at the pool and beach, ensuring the correct order, garnishes, sauces, or side items.
- Pay particular attention to specialty items such as fresh seafood, beachside cocktails, and unique appetizers to ensure correct presentation and quality.
- Assist in managing special requests or dietary preferences, ensuring communication with kitchen or bar staff for accurate preparation and delivery.
- Interact with poolside and beach guests to ensure satisfaction with their orders, proactively asking if they need anything else during their time at the pool or beach.
- Support the front-of-house team by assisting with clearing plates, refilling water glasses, and addressing any guest inquiries between courses or beverage rounds.
- Offer recommendations on refreshing cocktails, specialty snacks, or other unique offerings based on the setting.
- Collaborate with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure the smooth flow of orders from the kitchen to the pool or beachside.
- Maintain a solid understanding of the restaurant's specialty offerings, including beachside drinks, gourmet pool snacks, or signature cocktails, to provide accurate and enticing descriptions when necessary.
- Ensure that each dish or drink is delivered in accordance with restaurant standards, with a focus on maintaining the quality and aesthetic of the presentation in an outdoor setting.
- Ensure the pool and beach service areas are kept clean and well-organized, clearing empty plates, glasses, and silverware in a timely manner to ensure a comfortable environment for all guests.
- Maintain cleanliness around the pool and beach areas, including emptying trash and organizing service stations, ensuring all guests have access to clean, inviting spaces.
- Ensure all pool and beachside equipment, including lounge chairs, towels, and umbrellas, are in good condition and ready for guests' use.
- Assist in setting up poolside and beachside areas before service, ensuring adequate supplies (such as napkins, drinkware, garnishes, and utensils) are readily available.
- Support with organizing seating and ensuring that the service team is ready for guest arrival.
- Prepare the pool and beach areas by setting up trays, items for service, and ensuring everything is organized for ease of access during service.
- Be proactive in attending any team meetings, training sessions, or briefings to stay aligned with the restaurant's standards and operational goals.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the department and the broader goals of the property.
- Proven experience as a runner with prior experience in a high-end beach club or a luxury hospitality environment.
- Good knowledge of poolside and beachside food and beverage offerings, including specialty drinks, light bites, and refreshing cocktails.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and assist guests with confidence and professionalism.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong customer service skills and a passion for delivering high-quality experiences.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy trays of food and beverages.
