- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in the LTVU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and conducting assessments.
- Implement and maintain a plan of care tailored to each patient's individual needs, with a focus on optimizing respiratory function and overall health.
- Monitor and manage ventilator settings, tracheostomy care, and other respiratory interventions as per physician orders and established protocols.
- Perform regular assessments of patients' respiratory status, including ventilator weaning protocols and readiness assessments.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients' families, providing education and support regarding their child's condition, treatment plan, and home care requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care planning meetings to contribute to the overall management of patients in the LTVU.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety regulations, and quality improvement initiatives within the LTVU.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
- Stay abreast of current trends, research, and best practices in pediatric nursing and respiratory care, participating in continuing education and professional development activities as appropriate.
- Actively engage in performance improvement initiatives, contributing ideas and feedback to enhance the quality of care provided in the LTVU.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- With DHA Registered Nurse license/eligibility.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pediatric nursing, with specific experience in caring for patients requiring long-term ventilator support.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Willing to work 48 hours per week.
- Willing to be based in Dubai, UAE.
