- Develop, review, and continuously improve project cost estimates during enquiry and tender stages
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost models for mechanical and structural projects using Excel and ERP-based estimation tools
- Ensure estimates are complete, realistic, and aligned with technical assumptions and project scope
- Support preparation of technical-commercial offers, ensuring consistency across scope, pricing, inclusions, and exclusions
- Break down project scope into detailed cost elements covering engineering, materials, fabrication, subcontracting, logistics, installation, commissioning, project management, risks, contingencies, and compliance-related costs
- Improve estimation methodologies, templates, and assumptions databases and support transition to ERP estimation systems
- Capture lessons learned from executed projects and integrate insights into future estimates
- Standardize cost breakdown structures aligned with engineering work breakdown structures
- Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, procurement, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing, research and development, testing, upgrades, and refurbishment activities
- Design, validate, or approve engineered parts and solutions for crane upgrades and life-extension initiatives
- Support solutions to extend crane lifecycle through structural modifications, maintenance strategies, and performance improvements
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, DP World code of conduct, and applicable engineering and safety standards
- Perform additional engineering and analytical duties as assigned
- Degree in structural or mechanical engineering
- Minimum three years of experience in engineering design roles
- Four to six years of hands-on experience in project cost estimation for engineered or heavy equipment projects
- Experience with OEM, EPC, or heavy industry suppliers
- Background in port cranes or container handling equipment is preferred
- Ability to link engineering decisions with cost, risk, and schedule implications
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-project environments
- Mechanical and structural engineering principles
- Project cost estimation and commercial-technical coordination
- Excel-based cost modeling and exposure to ERP systems
- Engineering documentation and technical offer preparation
- Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder coordination
