The Consultant Cardiac Transplant Specialist is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of cardiac transplant care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through advanced diagnostics, clinical leadership, and adherence to international transplant standards.Key Responsibilities
- Lead evaluation and management of patients undergoing heart transplantation
- Conduct pre-transplant assessments, eligibility decisions, and multidisciplinary case reviews
- Oversee peri-operative care in collaboration with cardiac surgeons and critical care teams
- Manage post-transplant care including immunosuppression, rejection monitoring, and infection prevention
- Assess patients with advanced heart failure and determine suitability for transplant or mechanical support such as LVAD and ECMO
- Interpret cardiac imaging, hemodynamic studies, and biopsy findings
- Participate in transplant selection committees and regulatory compliance processes
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, audits, and morbidity and mortality reviews
- Provide education and mentorship to medical staff and transplant teams
- Engage in research, clinical trials, and academic activities
- Medical degree with specialization in Cardiology or Internal Medicine
- Subspecialty training in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation
- Board certification from a recognized international authority
- Minimum 3-5 years of post-fellowship experience in cardiac transplant medicine
- Strong expertise in managing complex heart failure and transplant patients
- Familiarity with international guidelines such as ISHLT and ACC
- Excellent leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
- Cardiac transplant and heart failure management
