Job DescriptionThe Department of Mechanical Engineering at the UAE University has a vacancy for an experienced workshop / Lab Technician (Machinist) to join the department and support world leading research and teaching beginning spring or fall 2018 . You will be expected to be hands on in the workshop and CNC laboratory and capable of delivering highly specialized technical support to the students and research group in the design and manufacturing. Experience and expertise will be required in mechanical assembly of experimental apparatus along with experience in CNC machinery, CAD and CAD/CAM software. You will provide training, guidance and specialist advice on laboratory techniques and testing to students and staff who will use this facility to conduct research. This will also include oversight for ensuring that appropriate safety procedures are followed in the laboratory.Minimum QualificationThe successful applicant should be educated to BSc degree level or equivalent. Good organizational skills are essential, together with the ability to understand and explain diverse technical and design problems to staff and students.Preferred Qualification
