- Act as a Senior Mechanical Technician within the Fast Response Crew, ensuring rapid response to mechanical emergencies within tier-based SLA timeframes.
- Implement immediate mechanical containment measures, including flow diversion, emergency pumping, and temporary repairs.
- Perform rapid mechanical assessments to identify damaged equipment, piping failures, and system integrity issues.
- Deploy emergency mechanical equipment such as temporary pumps, pipe repair clamps, and isolation plugs.
- Conduct comprehensive mechanical inspections using specialized tools (CCTV pipeline cameras, ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis).
- Perform root cause analysis of mechanical failures, including pump breakdowns, pipe bursts, valve malfunctions, and rotating equipment issues.
- Coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) for critical mechanical components.
- Document mechanical investigation findings through detailed diagrams, photographs, and technical reports.
- Supervise the dismantling and replacement of pumps (submersible, dry-well, centrifugal), blowers, gearboxes, and agitators.
- Oversee pipe repair and replacement works (GRP, HDPE, uPVC, ductile iron, stainless steel).
- Supervise valve installation, testing, commissioning, and perform mechanical alignment.
- Conduct mechanical pre-commissioning activities, including cleaning, flushing, and pressure testing.
- Perform pump performance testing (flow, pressure, efficiency verification).
- Oversee system startup and load testing under operational conditions.
- High school diploma/certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, positive displacement pumps, blowers, and gearboxes.
- Good knowledge of pipe-joining techniques (welding, flanging, threading, fusion welding for PE/HDPE), pressure testing, and leak detection.
- Strong knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gate valves, butterfly valves, check valves, and actuated valves.
- Proficient in using vibration analysis tools, alignment tools, ultrasonic testing equipment, and CCTV inspection devices.
- Good knowledge of mechanical safety standards, pressure equipment regulations, and confined space entry requirements.
- Familiarity with pre-work risk assessments, Permit to Work (PTW) systems, and emergency response procedures.
