The Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist is responsible for providing expert care for children with eye disorders, ensuring accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and long-term management to improve vision and quality of life.Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat pediatric eye conditions including strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, and retinopathy of prematurity
  • Perform pediatric ophthalmic surgeries and advanced diagnostic procedures
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, residents, and fellows
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, neurologists, and specialists for complex case management
  • Participate in academic research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and healthcare regulations
  • Contribute to service development and community outreach programs
Ideal Profile
  • Medical degree with specialization in Ophthalmology
  • Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Pediatric Ophthalmology
  • Board certification such as American Board, UK CCT, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years of post-fellowship experience
  • Strong expertise in pediatric eye surgery and diagnostics
  • Excellent communication skills with children and families
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and imaging technologies
  • Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage
