- Receive, check, and administer all incoming cord blood units, Cord tissue and birth biologics from collection centres.
- Perform cord blood volume reduction through depletion of red cells and plasma using validated techniques.
- Prepare cord blood units and cord tissue for cryopreservation, including cryoprotectant addition and transfer to freezing containers.
- Cryopreserve cord blood units and tissue using validated freezing protocols.
- Store cord blood units under validated long-term storage conditions.
- Ensure correct labelling, storage location assignment, packaging, and documentation of all products.
- File and manage incoming test results and donor records.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and monitoring of laboratory equipment and escalate defects as required.
- Perform quality control testing and analyses in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain daily specimen logs, results, and operational statistics.
- Conduct and document temperature monitoring for all relevant equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Must be eligible for or hold a valid UAE Department of Health (DoH) license as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Graduate of an accredited MLT programme leading to DoH registration (Hematology, Blood Transfusion, or Immunology)
- Experience in processing and culturing cord tissue for the purpose of MSc isolation and expansion
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Postgraduate training or Certification in tissue culture
- Experience in HLA is desirable
- Acts as a subject matter expert and technical reference for laboratory staff
- Provides training and competency assessment for assigned areas
- Assumes responsibility for resolving laboratory issues within scope
- Contributes to SOP development, review, and continuous improvement
- Specialisation in Cord Blood Banking and Flow Cytometry
- Demonstrated understanding of fertility preservation workflows and ethical considerations
- Based in a cleanroom or sterile lab environment with controlled conditions.
- May require evening, weekend, or on-call work to support urgent transplants.
- Role involves handling human donor tissue with strict adherence to bioethical and safety guidelines.
