The Department of ICT and IT Security at the American University of Sharjah seeks to hire a Network Engineer to manage and maintain network infrastructure technologies and services in response to the university administration, teaching, learning, and research needs. This individual will apply proven analytical, technical, problem-solving, and communication skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve network-related issues.Job Responsibilities

Administer and manage network infrastructure to ensure integrity, reliability, and security of network devices.
Perform real-time monitoring and analysis of network health and traffic activities.
Perform network audit and analysis of existing networks to identify areas of improvement.
Participate in projects to assess, analyze, design, and provision network services.
Build and maintain documentation of devices, operational procedures, and infrastructure topology.
Design and manage network infrastructure for LAN/WAN/SAN networks including but not limited to network switches, firewalls, routers, wireless controllers, application delivery controllers, s and authentication services.
Subject matter expert in application security, application delivery controller, next generation firewalls, wireless controllers and authentication services.
Monitor of network traffic and equipment to ensure the network is configured for optimal performance.
Work closely with ICT & IT Security teams to provide the best network experience to AUS community and visitors.
Configuration and implementation of wired and wireless networks for academic and residential complexes for seamless network connectivity.
Maintain network management software to analyze network availability and health for critical equipment.
Provide network configuration and support of specific business needs and requirements.
Prepare and maintain procedures and documentation for network inventory, recording diagnosis and resolution of network faults, enhancements and modifications to networks and maintenance instructions.
Monitor network traffic, activity, capacity, and usage to ensure continued integrity and optimal network performance.
Configure and maintain network configuration management software to manage configuration and firmware updates of network equipment.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
Cisco/Juniper certification (CCIE or higher) with a minimum of Seven years of experience in large networks (

20,000 nodes). * Significant knowledge and experience with managing and designing large-scale enterprise or campus wired and wireless networks.

Experience in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of complex networks
Excellent troubleshooting skills, written and oral communication skills
In-depth understanding of TCP/IP Protocols, Routing, Switching, DNS, DHCP, network convergence, and service delivery to multi-platform environments.
Demonstrated experience with Cisco and Juniper switches and routers.
Experience working for or with large Network Service Vendors and Providers.
Expertise in BGP, OSPF, Multicast, and policy-based routing.
Expertise in switching technologies like VLAN, PVLAN, STP, PVST Trunking, etc.
Proficiency in QoS/ToS architectures and Internet bandwidth management.
Ensure the availability of networks and protect from internal and external threats.
Expertise in Wireless LAN management and security.
Expertise in network preparation and management in support of IP Telephony.
Experience in next-generation firewalls like Palo Alto.
Experience in application Load Balancer like F5 networks.
Experience in AAA and other authentication systems like RADIUS, TACACS+ and AD
Experience with NAC products and solutions
Knowledge of Operating Systems like Windows and Linux.
Knowledge and experience in network and web applications security.
Knowledge of Cloud Network connectivity, Security and availability ( AWS, Azure)
Flexible to work outside regular Business hours and is expected to be on call when needed to support the services.
UAE national preferred.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

A master's degree in a related field (Computer Science/Engineering).
Certifications in related fields (Cisco, F5, Ruckus, Paloalto).
Strong Experience in managing Cisco, Ruckus, Juniper, F5, and Paloalto Technologies.
Knowledge & experience in the following technologies: Cisco, Ruckus, F5 LTM, APM and ASM, Palo Alto Firewalls, ClearPass, Solarwinds, Cisco DNA, Splunk, and Beyond Trust

The candidate should be available full-time on-site during AUS main working hours (Monday to Thursday, 8 AM to 6 PM) but is also expected to be ready to work at flexible times when needed.We are looking for a candidate ready to hit the ground running with minimal training.How to Apply
