
Lead Engineer - Metallurgy

- Provide strategic metallurgical leadership for FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Develop and supervise metallurgical design bases, material selection, corrosion control strategies, and materials data sheets to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Lead material integrity programs, failure analysis, and interfaces with process, mechanical, and reliability teams.
- Mentor engineers, drive quality and schedule adherence, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the selection and specification of materials for process equipment, piping, structures, and components exposed to corrosive environments and high-temperature service.
- Develop and review metallurgical design basis, material specs, data sheets, damage mechanisms (corrosion, erosion, fatigue, creep), and repair strategies.
- Conduct and supervise metallurgical analyses (corrosion rate assessments, creep/fatigue evaluation, line-of-sight failures, weldability, heat treatment, heat affected zone considerations).
- Ensure compliance with codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM) and project-specific requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces with process, mechanical, piping, corrosion, and reliability teams; manage vendors and third-party assessments.
- Lead root cause investigations of material failures and implement corrective actions, lessons learned, and prevention plans.
- Review and approve technical deliverables (material specifications, MOC/Change Notes, design change requests, NCRs).
- Mentor and develop junior metallurgy engineers; support staffing, training, and performance reviews.
- Develop and manage execution plans, man-hour estimates, and budgets for metallurgy scope.
- Ensure QA/QC practices, drawing standards, datasheets, and requisition packages related to metallurgy.
- Support fabrication, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities; participate in inspectors' reviews and as-built documentation.
- Stay current with advances in metallurgy and corrosion science; propose value-added solutions.
- Experience: 15+ years of experience in FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- ADNOC EPC/PMC experience are highly preferred
- Demonstrated track record delivering metallurgical design and material integrity studies on FEED/detail projects.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a metallurgy/mineral/ materials focus or related field.
- Professional membership or relevant certifications (e.g., NACE, CP, CMRP) are advantageous.
- Certification related to corrosion engineering or materials (e.g., NACE Corrosion, AWS welding credentials) is a plus.
- Strong background in metallurgy, corrosion engineering, and materials integrity.
- Proficiency with materials selection databases, corrosion modeling tools, and welding/joint integrity assessments.
- Familiarity with FEED deliverables, MOC/Change control, and document controls.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, ISO, NFPA, ASTM standards relevant to metallurgical design.
- Experience with high-temperature alloys, corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and linings.
- Ability to perform material degradation analyses, failure investigations, and root cause analysis.
