Job ObjectiveThe Risk Engineer is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating project risks across all phases of an EPCM oil & gas project. The role ensures that technical, commercial, schedule, and operational risks are proactively managed to support successful project delivery within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.Responsibilities:Risk Management & Identification
  • Develop and implement the Project Risk Management Plan in line with company and client standards
  • Identify potential risks across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops (risk review workshops, brainstorming sessions, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive Risk Register
  • Evaluate risks related to cost, schedule, safety, and technical performance
Mitigation & Control
  • Develop risk mitigation and contingency plans with risk / action owners
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to reduce exposure
  • Ensure integration of risk responses into project schedules and execution plans
  • Monitor effectiveness of mitigation strategies and adjust as necessary
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track identified risks and ensure mitigation actions are implemented
  • Regularly update and review the Risk Register with stakeholders
  • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and KPIs to project management and client
  • Highlight critical risks and escalation items to senior leadership
Quantitative Risk Analysis & Assessment
  • Deep technical expertise in Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis (CRA & SRA), including hands on experience of complex risk models for major capital projects
  • Proven ability to define and validate inputs and actively challenge & refine inputs in collaboration with planning & project teams
  • Ability to interpret and explain outputs in detail, including confidence levels, sensitivities and risk drivers
  • Experience of presenting and defending results to senior stakeholders and clients under scrutiny; providing robust, evidence based recommendations
  • Experience in the assurance and validation of quantitative risk analysis outputs, in line with client or industry governance requirements
Interface & Coordination
  • Liaise with Project Controls, Planning, Cost, HSE, and Engineering teams
  • Support contract and commercial teams in evaluating contractual risks
  • Participate in client meetings, audits, and risk reviews / workshops
  • Ensure alignment with client risk management expectations and reporting formats
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure adherence to company risk management frameworks and industry best practices
  • Support internal and external audits related to risk management
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all risk-related activities
Qualifications:Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years of experience in oil & gas projects, preferably within EPC/EPCM environments
  • Proven comprehensive experience in project risk management
  • Demonstrated experience with tools such as Deltek Acumen Fuse Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA), @Risk, Safran Risk, or similar
  • Strong understanding of large-scale, multi-discipline complex projects
