- Design and develop underground structures, including cut and cover tunnels and stations, utilizing industry-standard engineering software and methodologies
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and structural analysis to ensure safety and feasibility of tunneling projects
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for construction and stakeholder review
- Oversee site supervision and quality assurance during tunnel construction and underground structure installation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met
- Develop and implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while maintaining quality standards
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for underground construction challenges
- Communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in tunneling and underground construction engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in tunneling, underground construction, or related civil engineering projects
- Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, PLAXIS, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, structural analysis, and underground construction methodologies
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Tunneling Engineering
- 8+ years of experience specifically in tunnel design and underground structure projects
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and advanced design software
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards (ASCE, OSHA, local jurisdictional requirements)
- Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholder communications
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and innovations in underground construction
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated risk assessment experience
