Senior Workshop Mechanical Engineer – Rotating EquipmentLocation: Abu Dhabi, UAE (Workshop-Based)

Reporting To: Operations ManagerThe OpportunityOur client is a leading international industrial group specializing in rotating equipment services. They are seeking a Senior Workshop Mechanical Engineer to manage the technical execution of overhauls within their Abu Dhabi facility.Unlike a standard management role, this position is primarily workshop-based and requires a "hands-on" leader who understands the mechanical integrity of steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and industrial pumps down to the component level.Key Responsibilities1. Workshop Execution & OverhaulSupervise and execute the full overhaul, refurbishment, and repair lifecycle of rotating equipment.Ensure correct assembly, disassembly, and precision fitting of mechanical components.Perform detailed dimensional inspections, tolerance verifications, and condition assessments.2. Machining & Balancing SupervisionMachining: Supervise and/or operate horizontal/vertical lathes and milling machines for component repair and modification.Balancing: Perform low-speed rotor balancing and verify balance quality according to ISO standards.Runout Checks: Perform and interpret shaft, rotor, and coupling runout measurements.3. Technical LeadershipInterpret OEM drawings, manuals, and technical documentation to guide workshop technicians.Identify mechanical issues, support failure analysis, and propose corrective repair solutions.Prepare workshop reports, inspection records, and "As-Built" documentation.Candidate RequirementsExperience & EducationBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent high-level technical experience).Minimum 12–20 years of hands-on workshop experience with rotating equipment (Turbines, Compressors, Pumps).Mandatory: Practical experience with Lathes, Milling Machines, and Low-Speed Balancing.Technical SkillsStrong understanding of mechanical clearances, fits, and tolerances.Ability to read complex engineering drawings and OEM manuals.Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.Familiarity with ADNOC technical standards and quality requirements.Work EnvironmentMust be willing to work in a heavy industrial workshop environment.Willingness to support extended hours during critical overhauls.STRAGO, an equal employment opportunity employer, is recruiting on behalf of our client.
