We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in a leading international oil trading firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal policies. This role requires strong knowledge of commodity trading structures, mark-to-market accounting, and exposure to treasury, settlements, and risk functions.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & ReportingManage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.Ensure timely and accurate recording of trading transactions (physical and derivatives) and related settlements.Perform reconciliations of P&L and balance sheet accounts, including intercompany and trading positions.Review and monitor accruals, prepayments, and provisions.Trade & Treasury SupportLiaise with operations, risk, and trading teams to ensure proper capture of deals and accurate P&L reporting.Support cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and bank reconciliations.Assist in handling trade finance documentation (LCs, BGs) and ensure alignment with accounting treatment.Controls & ComplianceMaintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with best practices.Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, VAT, corporate tax filings, and audit obligations.Act as a point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies.Business PartneringProvide financial insights and analysis to traders and management for decision-making.Support system enhancements (ERP/ETRM) to streamline accounting and reporting processes.Train and mentor junior accountants in the team.
