- Safely handle and control dogs on-site and at external locations, ensuring public safety and animal welfare.
- Provide daily care including feeding, grooming, exercise and monitoring of health and behaviour.
- Assist with basic training tasks and reinforcement of training plans under the guidance of senior trainers or behaviourists.
- Complete accurate records of each dog's behaviour, health observations and training progress using our systems.
- Manage kennel maintenance and ensure hygienic environments are maintained to industry standards.
- Support veterinary appointments and follow through with prescribed treatments as required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet operational needs, including weekend and occasional evening shifts.
- Previous experience handling dogs in a professional or volunteer capacity (shelter, kennels, training school or security) is desirable.
- Strong understanding of canine behaviour, body language and basic training principles.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow written training plans and standard operating procedures.
- Physically able to manage dogs of varying size and energy levels, including lifting and restraining when necessary.
- Hold a full UK driving licence or have reliable means of travel to different sites (desirable but not mandatory).
- Willingness to undertake DBS check, first aid training and any required certificates relevant to the role.
- Animal care, canine behaviour or dog training qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) advantageous.
- Certificate in canine first aid or willingness to obtain within probation period.
- Relevant health and safety training or willingness to complete on induction.
- Full-time and part-time hours available; shift patterns include weekdays, weekends and occasional evenings.
- Competitive salary dependent on experience, with opportunities for overtime.
