The Consultant Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon is responsible for delivering life-saving surgical care, managing critically injured patients, and ensuring high standards of clinical excellence in trauma and emergency surgery.Key Responsibilities
- Lead assessment, resuscitation, and operative management of trauma and acute surgical emergencies
- Provide consultant-level coverage for trauma calls and emergency surgical admissions
- Perform complex procedures including emergency laparotomies and damage-control surgeries
- Oversee inpatient care including ICU coordination and postoperative management
- Participate in trauma team activation, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and international best practices
- Supervise junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to trauma registry documentation and accreditation processes
- Engage in teaching, simulation training, and professional development
- Medical degree with specialization in General Surgery or Trauma Surgery
- Board certification in Surgery or equivalent
- Fellowship training in Trauma or Acute Care Surgery preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of consultant-level experience in trauma centers
- Proven expertise in emergency surgical procedures
- Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma systems preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
