The Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon is responsible for providing specialized medical and surgical treatment for retinal diseases, ensuring precise diagnosis, effective interventions, and long-term patient care in a highly specialized clinical setting.Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced vitreoretinal surgeries including pars plana vitrectomy and retinal detachment repair
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular disorders
- Conduct laser photocoagulation, intravitreal injections, and other therapeutic procedures
- Utilize advanced imaging technologies including OCT, FFA, ICG, and wide-field imaging systems
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Participate in training and development of junior medical staff
- Medical degree with specialization in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery from a recognized institution
- Tier 1 qualifications such as American Board, UK CCT, or equivalent
- Minimum 7-12 years of experience in vitreoretinal surgery
- Proven expertise in surgical outcomes and clinical decision-making
- Eligibility for DOH or UAE licensing authority
- Strong communication skills and commitment to patient-centered care
