SECONDARY ECONOMICS TEACHER NEEDED IN THE UAE - AUGUST 2024
Second Subject Required but NOT BusinessRequirements:
- British trained
- Degree in Economics and PGCE
- Two years of experience
- GCSE and A level experience
- Single or married teaching couple (up to 2 children)Located in the Northern Emirates on a spectacular rugged coastline this well established and well respected private co-educational school is seeking experienced teachers for the next academic year. The school is a member of the British Schools of the Middle East and caters for a predominant local population of children, over 600, from KG to Year 13, offering an adapted version of the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Although the school is heavily British flavoured in terms of the curriculum and teaching staff, this is very much of a national school with western expatriates, reflecting an ethos and culture that relates to a more traditional Arabian community. Applicants need to be aware that this is not a typical western expatriate school.Applicants must offer at least 2 years post qualifying experience and have a substantial background of teaching the National Curriculum of England & Wales. Secondary teachers should be able to offer A-level experience. Ideally they should also have a background of teaching ESL students and offer a solid IT skill set. A collaborative style and a resilient attitude are just some of the attributes that will serve a teacher well in a setting that demands a positive approach to student learning, the ability to adapt teaching styles to accommodate variety in learning strategies, an involvement in the extra-curricular activities and an energetic contribution to the whole school community. In return, the school offers a tax free monthly salary depending on experience, local medical insurance, single furnished accommodation, annual flights, a settling in allowance, payment of reasonable utilities and a gratuity payment.Applicants must be happy to live and work in a remoter and more local location where conservative behaviour and a deep understanding and appreciation of traditions are expected. The area is rapidly developing and although there is much better shopping these days offering familiar retail outlet names and cinemas, not to mention an attractive array of beachside hotels offering an assortment of aquatic and sporting activities, the variety will be less than larger cities; road links to Dubai means a journey time of just over an hour for weekend excursions. This is an exciting time to consider combining the opportunity to work in a structured, progressively developing school of strong and supportive leadership with the chance to experience the adventurous and cultural lifestyles of traditional Arabia, with some of the west thrown in for good measure! Please contact your Edvectus consultant for more information.
