- Monitor and inspect mechanical installations to ensure compliance with design drawings, technical specifications, SSH policies, and industry best practices.
- Verify that all mechanical materials and equipment delivered to the site comply with approved material submittals, project specifications, and contract requirements.
- Conduct regular periodic inspections to ensure both quality and safety standards are upheld. Issue Field Observation Reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) immediately upon identifying deviations (in consultation with the Discipline Lead/RE).
- In consultation with the RE, issue violation notices and stop-work orders. Confer with contractors and authorities to explain regulations and recommend necessary rectifications.
- Provide regular updates to the RE/Senior Discipline Engineer regarding project delivery performance, progress, risks, and KPIs. Maintain comprehensive daily logs supplemented by site photographs.
- Review “As-Built” drawings and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals to ensure technical correctness and readiness for handover.
- Ensure all QA/QC documentation for the project site is processed within the mandated turnaround time.
- Lead the preparation and verification of mechanical snagging lists to ensure a high-quality finish for the Client.
- Instruct emergency procedures where appropriate to avoid accidental damage to the works or the site.
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of total experience, with at least 7-8 years specifically in Site Inspection within a Consultancy or Supervision firm.
- Significant experience in Post-Contract Supervision and QA/QC. Thorough knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting, and specialized mechanical services.
- Deep appreciation of International Codes (ASHRAE, NFPA) and UAE Statutory Authority requirements (DCD, Municipality, Utilities).
- Proven ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams (Architectural, Structural, Electrical) and manage relationships with contractors and sub-consultants.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical site clashes and provide technical solutions that align with the original design intent.
- A “zero-compromise” approach to quality, ensuring that all installations-especially life safety systems like Firefighting-meet 100% of the code requirements.
- Identifying potential delays or safety hazards in mechanical installations (such as pressure testing or heavy equipment lifting) before they occur.
- Provides the Resident Engineer with accurate, data-driven site observations to facilitate informed project decisions.
- Capable of managing multiple inspection requests (IRs) across different project zones while maintaining the required documentation turnaround time.
- Maintains a professional and respectful demeanor when dealing with contractors, focusing on “fixing the problem” rather than just “finding the fault.”
- Ability to stay updated with changing local authority regulations (e.g., new DCD or DEWA circulars) and apply them immediately to site inspections.
