The Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating complex retinal disorders, performing advanced surgical procedures, and ensuring optimal visual outcomes for patients.Key Responsibilities
- Perform vitreoretinal surgeries including vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, and macular procedures
- Diagnose and treat conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular diseases
- Conduct laser photocoagulation, intravitreal injections, and other advanced treatments
- Utilize advanced imaging technologies including OCT, FFA, ICG, and wide-field imaging
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary ophthalmology teams for comprehensive patient care
- Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to training and mentoring of junior staff
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to healthcare standards
- Medical degree with specialization in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery
- Tier 1 qualifications such as American Board, UK CCT, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in vitreoretinal surgery
- Proven expertise in complex retinal procedures
- Eligibility for DOH or UAE licensing authority
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
