Grant Thornton understands how important audited financial statements are to businesses, shareholders/owners, lenders, investors and other stakeholders. We work with some of the country's most successful private and public companies to first understand their businesses and the risks they face, and then focus our efforts where they matter most. We work with clients to improve their overall financial reporting processes and to help them better understand their businesses. We also consider it our job to continually inform our clients about accounting, financial and regulatory developments that may affect their businesses.Job OverviewThis is the perfect opportunity for an existing Director to take on a leadership role, focusing on people and development, high quality, and developing our client base further. As an Audit Director, you will use your technical and leadership skills to plan and lead the completion of financial statement audits. You'll focus on the strategic growth of the team; business development and ensuring that all work allocated is carried out profitably, efficiently and to the highest level of quality.You'll apply your experience to help engagement teams solve difficult business problems and review highly-technical matters and disclosures — all with the resources, environment and support to help you excel. You'll build relationships with clients and your engagement teams, and use our world-class audit technology to work collaboratively, solve smarter, and have meaningful business conversations.   • Be responsible for a large portfolio of audit clients, ensuring that all work allocated is carried out profitably, efficiently and to the highest level of quality
  • Overseeing and supporting multiple engagement teams concurrently to complete financial statement audits
  • Develop the client base and lead on client pitches
  • Project manage client work, ensuring we deliver the right quality to the relevant timescales
  • Build and maintain strong working relationship with your team and our clients
  • Take opportunities for wider department responsibilities through training and pitching new projects
  • Constantly strive to push yourself, and the business, further, knowing you're supported through every stage
  • Consistently listening and communicating with clients about engagement and service expectations; resolving technical and service issues quickly and thoroughly
  • Training and supervising less experienced colleagues and providing consistent, regular feedback
  • Working with Talent Acquisition and recruiting for the team as and when required
Criteria for Success
  • 12+ years of progressive public accounting experience within a top international firm
  • Professionally qualified (ACA, CA, ACCA, CPA)
  • Proven history of high audit quality ratings
  • Experienced working with clients in the mid-market space, auditing relevant industries to Grant Thornton's client base
  • Experience of signing audit opinions is advantageous, including RI status
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a sound knowledge of IFRS
  • Continuously expand your professional network and have experience with business development
  • Value teamwork, are agile and know the power of building strong relationships
  • Are curious about or have exposure to automation and digitization tools as part of audits or in the professional services environment
  • Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
