Davidson Management Consultants have been mandated to recruit a Consultant in Maternal Fetal Medicine with expertise in fetal surgery for a prestigious multispecialty hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The hospital houses an advanced Maternal Fetal Institute dedicated to managing high-risk pregnancies and complex fetal conditions through cutting-edge fetal therapy programs. As a major regional referral center, the institute is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, advanced prenatal imaging, and a fully integrated fetal surgery program delivering sophisticated in-utero interventions.The institute offers end-to-end care spanning prenatal diagnosis, fetal intervention, and postnatal management, supported by a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team comprising neonatology, pediatric subspecialties, radiology, and maternal medicine. It is recognized as one of the few centers in the region performing advanced fetal procedures such as in-utero spina bifida repair and fetal endoscopic tracheal occlusion (FETO), managing highly complex cases including congenital diaphragmatic hernia, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, and a broad spectrum of fetal anomalies.We are seeking Tier 1 Fellowship trained Consultant Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists with proven expertise in fetal surgery and fetal therapy. Candidates must hold Western qualifications such as ABMS (USA), CCT/CCST (UK), RCPSC (Canada), FRANZCOG (Australia & New Zealand), or equivalent Tier 1 credentials recognized by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi.Physicians with a Tier 2 Board certification along with a Fellowship training will also be considered. Strong experience in advanced prenatal diagnostics, invasive procedures, and fetal interventions within a tertiary care setting will be advantageous.The role involves delivering advanced subspecialty care focused on the evaluation, risk stratification, and management of high-risk pregnancies and complex fetal conditions. Responsibilities include managing both outpatient and inpatient services, performing first trimester screening, detailed anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, Doppler assessments, and fetal growth monitoring. The Consultant will manage complex obstetric scenarios such as multiple pregnancies, placenta accreta spectrum, fetal growth restriction, congenital anomalies, and maternal medical complications.The successful candidate will perform invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and play an active role in fetal therapy and surgical interventions. This includes participation in minimally invasive and fetoscopic procedures within structured and well-governed fetal therapy programs, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of clinical safety and quality.
Close collaboration with neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, geneticists, radiologists, and other multidisciplinary teams is essential to ensure seamless continuity of care from prenatal diagnosis through delivery and postnatal management. The Consultant will also provide comprehensive and empathetic patient counseling covering diagnosis, prognosis, procedural options, associated risks, and delivery planning.In addition, the role requires contributing to the development and implementation of evidence based clinical protocols in line with international best practices. Participation in multidisciplinary fetal boards, clinical governance activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives is expected. The Consultant will also support research, innovation, and the advancement of fetal therapy services, reinforcing the institution's position as a regional leader in maternal fetal medicine and fetal surgery. Teaching responsibilities include mentoring junior clinicians, sonographers, and trainees, along with contributing to academic and educational programs.
