Within Smart Infrastructure, we combine Digital Power Distribution and Digital Building Technologies to create connected systems that make buildings, energy networks, and industries more efficient, sustainable, and resilient.Our solutions help cities grow smarter, energy systems operate more reliably, and communities thrive.This role offers an excellent opportunity for engineers from around the world to gain international experience, work on large-scale power transmission projects, and develop their expertise with some of the most advanced protection and automation technologies in the industry.Your Role - International, Challenging, and ImpactfulAs a Junior Field Protection Engineer, you will be based in Abu Dhabi and work on testing and commissioning of Siemens Protection & Automation systems across the UAE and the wider Middle East region.You will collaborate with global teams, utilities, and customers to ensure the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage transmission infrastructure.Key Responsibilities
  • Testing & commissioning of Protection and Automation systems for Siemens projects
  • Preparation of SAT / FAT protocols and technical documentation
  • Conducting Pre-FAT / FAT activities with customers for protection panels (AVR, LIBBP, HIBBP, TIP etc.)
  • Preparing commissioning procedures including method statements, work permits and testing protocols
  • Supporting product feedback, approvals, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Delivering technical presentations to customers and stakeholders
  • Performing fault analysis and root cause investigations on protection systems
Your Profile - Technical Expertise Meets Global Mindset
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or Electrical & Communication Engineering
  • 2-3 years' experience in Protection & Automation commissioning
  • Experience in multicultural project environments
  • Experience in substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets is a strong advantage
Hands-on experience with protection and automation systems including:
  • Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4 / SIPROTEC 5 / Reyrolle
  • Knowledge of Power Quality and Substation Automation systems
  • Strong understanding of IEC 61850 communication, GOOSE applications, and relay configuration tools
  • Experience with control logic creation (BCPU / BCU) and configuration files (SCD / ICD / CID)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols used in protection systems
Testing & Commissioning Expertise
  • Advanced experience with OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20 or higher)
  • Testing modules including Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, State Sequencer, Ramping, Transplay, and OCC files
  • Experience with HV transmission protection schemes including:
  • Line Distance Protection
  • Line Differential Protection
  • Transformer Main & Backup Protection
  • Busbar Protection (Low / High Impedance)
Additional Technical Exposure
  • Stability testing for line differential protection using CMGPS kits
  • Testing of transformer, shunt reactor, and series reactor differential protection
  • Familiarity with modern digital substation technologies such as Process Bus and RTU integration
