Buyer Category manager- - Confectionery & Drinks

• Develop and implement data-driven buying strategies for the confectionery and drinks categories in line with customer trends and business objectives.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers, leveraging FMCG expertise and existing regional contacts to secure favorable terms and exclusive deals.
• Analyse market data and consumer insights to optimize product ranges, pricing, and promotion
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key FMCG suppliers, both national and regional.
• Monitor and respond to competitor activity and evolving local demographic trends to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Collaborate with merchandising, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure seamless category execution in-store and online.
• Conduct regular range reviews and category performance analysis to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure all sourcing complies with regulatory, health & safety, and company standards.

• 7-9+ years of proven experience in FMCG buying or category management, with a specific focus on confectionery and drinks.
• Background in a Supermarket chain, CTN retailer, or a major FMCG supplier.
• In-depth understanding of local consumer demographics and regional buying habits.
• Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable success in driving category growth and profitability.
• Well-established supplier network in the region, with the ability to bring value from day one.
• Advanced negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
• Proficient in retail analytics, range planning, and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel).
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, or a related field
