A Commis 1 at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre is responsible for preparing and presenting high quality dishes to deliver an excellent Guest experience.What will I be doing?As a Commis 1 at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre you will be assisting in the daily operations, including the preparation of mis-en-place and production. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:Knowledge of the individual menu items including basic ingredients, methods of preparation, and presentation style.Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.Gain basic knowledge of all outlets in hotel.Responsible for mise en place.Taste and examine food prepared for freshness and required quality.Set up section as required by Chef De Partie and Executive Chef.Be responsible for minimizing food wastage.Attend and comprehend all information discussed at the briefing sessions.Be pro-actively involved in the hotel’s operation keeping up-to-date with events within the hotel.What are we looking for?A Commis 1 at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:
  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef
  • Positive attitude
  • Very Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to work with a team and to follow instruction
  • A passion to learn and a drive to succeed in a culinary/hospitality career
  • Proof of completion in a basic food hygiene course
  • A passion for food and the culinary arts
  • Experience multi-tasking and working in an environment with rigorous standards
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
  • Educational background in Culinary Arts
  • Previous work experience within the hotel industry
  • NVQ Level 2
