- Maintain and enhance the project governance framework to comply with FAB & CBUAE regulatory requirements, optimize operational efficiency and optimize project success in terms of ROI, KPIs, risk mitigation and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Enforce the implementation of this governance framework.
- Integrate data and/or projects whenever applicable to further optimize operational efficiency.
- Manage a 'line of defense' team consisting of a QA/QC Lead, a Compliance & Risk Specialist and a Business Analyst, ensuring seamless collaboration and execution of responsibilities.
- Set goals for members of your team and evaluate their performance on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with your team in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive model governance framework.
- Responsible for effectively implementing the model governance framework and coordinating awareness sessions for the department.
- Oversee the BAU tasks of your team, which includes pre-implementation validations and continuous monitoring of models in the areas of regulatory compliance, operational & ethical risks, model quality and financial performance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the line of defense, modelling teams, senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Translate your team's Quarterly Status Reports into a dashboard of actionable insights and present them to senior management.
- Stay informed of industry trends & emerging technologies and proactively identify opportunities to refine governance processes & tools.
- Stakeholder Management: -
- Work together with a wide-array of business SMEs in order to assess their analytical needs, suggest creative solutions and agree on use-cases.
- Regularly communicate with business SMEs to ensure internal customer satisfaction.
- Regularly provide project status updates to senior management.
- Technology Evaluation and Innovation: -
- Keep up with new developments and trends in data science, reporting platforms, and related fields.
- Analyse and suggest new platforms, programs, and tools that will improve the bank's data analytics and reporting capabilities.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in STEM or a relevant quantitative field such as economics or finance
- Professional Certification in Banking or Project Management is preferred
- 3+ years of experience in applying data science in a banking industry
- A track record of developing high-performing and well-documented technical solutions in a demanding work environment and managing employees to accomplish the same
- Familiarity with database technology and languages such as SQL
- Proficient in data preparation, statistics and the scientific method
- Proficient in Python/R, SAS or other statistical software
- Familiarity with data visualization technology such as PowerBI
- Familiarity with project governance/management principles and software
- Knowledgeable about financial products and banking regulations & processes
- Knowledgeable about Customer Relationship Management platforms
- Excellent reasoning, creative and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent organizational & documentation skills
