- Prepares/produces/bakes breads, rolls, breakfast pastries and desserts according to standard recipes, in order to contribute the overall guest satisfaction.
- Creates and recommends menu changes to the Senior Executive Pastry Chef.
- Decorates pastries/cakes with creativity and skill.
- Maintains adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration of same.
- Monitor and control the maintenance/sanitation of the pastry shop and equipment to ensure a healthy, safe work environment which meets/exceeds standards and regulations.
- Ensures spoilage/waste are kept to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products.
- Set daily pars on all products to ensure freshness.
- Supervise pastry section Team Members, train, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication.
- Providing a safe and secure environment by adhering to the company Health & Safety and Food Safety policies ensuring all areas are compliant with audit requirement.
- All selected candidates are required to undergo a food trial in our kitchen
- Skilled in creating, preparing/producing and decorating pastries and cakes.
- Knife handling, pastry & baked goods knowledge.
- Strong Supervisory/Management skills required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Five or more years pastry cooking/baking experience. Supervisory experience.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Advance degree or specialized training in Pastry is highly desirable.
- Pastry/Bakery certificate or apprenticeship helpful.
- Food hygiene and HACCP certificate.
- Positive attitude.
- Excellent grooming standards
- Excellent planning and organising skills
- Luxury hospitality experience in a similar role
- Specialized in Pastry/Bakery
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons and evenings.
