- Perform the duties of a lecturers as given in the lecturer JD but at a reduced teaching/training/consultancy load.
- Ensure efficient management and sound functioning of the directorate.
- Provide training leadership and allocate training and administrative responsibilities to the faculty and staff of the directorate.
- Assist the VP Training & Consultancy, along with other Directors, to promote and develop the Academy
- Represent the directorate at meetings, Committees, working parties of the Academy.
- Supervise lecturers / help prepare training courses/programs as needed
- Prepare and present Directorate performance reports to the Provost and the President.
- Manage the simulators assets of the academy, their use in training and consultancy, maintenance and continuous upgrade.
- Develop directorate's vision and plans in collaboration with directorate staff.
- Work in collaboration with the directorate staff on the Planning, development and implementation of curriculum.
- Ensure accreditation, benchmarking and validation of programs/courses and adoption of required standards and quality assurance practices;
- Responsible to represent the directorate's views and interests to the senior management;
- Responsible for directorate staff/lecturers induction, mentoring and performance review;
- Oversee educational programs/courses of the directorate and the quality of services provided for education, research and training;
- Meet with students/trainees/clients regularly to gather feedback, complaints and to appreciate the challenges faced by students;
- Initiate and develop opportunities for students' intellectual and professional development, to complement and extend their preparation for practice;
- Communicate to directorate's staff, the Academy's strategic goals, new and revised regulations and policies, changes in the Academy's structure / sponsor requirements / accreditation requirements and the like.;
- Implement staff and student code of conduct and disciplinary regulations and procedures as relevant to the Academy and Abu Dhabi Ports;
- Prepare, implement and supervise examination schedules and process and deputize as necessary to other staff of the directorate;
- Review external examiners' reports on the assessment processes, and ensure that appropriate follow up action is taken by the relevant faculty;
- To assist in teaching when required as a cover for absentee faculty - and teach half the number of credits per semester as delivered by a faculty - in subject areas appropriate to the training and experience;
- Manage the physical assets of the directorate, including space allocation;
- Enhance, along with the directorate staff, health and safety environment within the work place area and maintain a good working and equitable environment for all concerned;
- Manage the Staff/Faculty of the Directorate in all aspects of performance (e.g. setting objectives, appraisals, assigning courses and services duties).
- Contribute to the strategic development of the directorate
- Undertake other duties as reasonably may be required by the Director.

- Bachelor Degree holding
- Terminal vocational qualification in the relevant discipline.
- Qualification in teaching or training.
