Maintain the building, electro-mechanical operating systems, non-selling furniture, interior and exterior in “shape as new” to promote the image and brand of IKEA.What you will do
  • Drive the Safety and Security agenda by using the Operational Risk Management Process (root cause analysis, influencing factors, decision-making process.
  • work with the appropriate managers to reduce the potential of future occurrences and escalate issues where appropriate,
  • Ensure a proactive approach to Safety and Security Risk Management where risks are considered at an early stage and handled as an integrated part of the business
  • Initiate and perform risk assessments on Safety and Security matters and Lead the H&S training calendar.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure that all building Fire Protection systems and Equipment is safe and well maintained.
  • Work with relevant parties to ensure that WM program is healthy and meets local regulations.
  • Work with HR to ensure that enough number of first aiders and fire marshals are trained,
  • Ensure that all 3rd parties are aware about IKEA H &S rules.
  • Manage the fire protection program.
  • Develop and Update regularly the H&S SOPs.
  • Accountable for the internal and external securing of any unit, coach, develop and educate all co-workers and external partners to ensure they comply with the OSHA, Group Risk Manual and the IKEA H&S policy.
  • plan the Emergency Response Group in order to minimize the effect of 'major incidents' on the business
  • investigate internal and external incidents and recommend solution and revision of routines as necessary
  • Develop and communicate an annual action plan as well as monitor and evaluate the success of this plan in order to influence future plans
  • Effectively utilize all available risk tools including SEC check, CCTV and Incident Reporting System and other internal and external data to analyze the results of all risks to the business.
  • Effectively manage and inspire your team, with particular reference to their selection, training and development in order to ensure you have a competent and well informed team who can meet our customer needs and expectations and have in place a workable and realistic succession plan
  • Manage costs under the risk team and work with the Leadership Team to maximize efficiency of spend without impacting on levels of service to the customer of Safety standards
  • Ensure the First Aid facility always fully ready to support incase of need by keeping accurate inventory and regular follow-up to ensure there is enough first aiders are available throughout Operation.
  • Contribute to IKEA development by supporting national expansion projects. To build key relationships with external bodies in order to champion IKEA within the local community
  • Manage safety of all in-house activities with an over-all responsibility of supervisors and facility management technicians.
  • Manage safety of all external contractors.
  • Prepare safety technical reports and progress review reports.
  • Monitor safety of all works through site inspections, followed by documenting minutes of all meetings.
  • Provide feedback, report to management with opinions and suggestions on improvement of work with safety, and cost being important considerations.
  • Check and approve all drawings and technical material where required and give advice accordingly based on experience, research and expertise.
  • Upload safety data, codes, and incident reports to regional share folders.
  • Participate in Ops department annual budget reviews and setting.
  • Participate in the tender preparation and review for all maintenance contracts.
  • Plan and forecast various health and safety capital projects and major modification/refurbishment jobs for longevity of equipment.
  • Respond and co-operate with any Government requirements associated with sites to achieve the work required and to ensure compliance with all government departments.
  • Manage major fire safety tests like generator full load test, blackout test, emergency lights test, fire pumps tests, etc.
  • Arrange with external service providers to manage the shutdown plans & developing performance of utilities.
  • Perform safety inspection & maintenance inspection and putting action plan to fix all comments.
  • Collect quotations and offers from subcontractors and issuing the comparison sheet to choose the best quality and price.
  • Manage firefighting (FF) systems in the store and in fire pump room with mall team
Required skills to be successful
  • Experience in the field of health, safety and environment
  • Proficient in using data analysis software is preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills
  • Proficient in using computers & Microsoft office.
What equips you for the role
  • OSHA or NEBOSH certified.
  • Engineering background
  • OSHA Industry or NASP is preferred.
  • Familiar with TBT (Safety Talk)
  • Familiar with OSHA and HSE codes.
  • Familiar with local codes and international codes (NFPA, IEC, IBC, ASHRE, ASME, IEEE, EN, BS, ISO, etc.).
  • Familiar with mechanical systems specially HVAC system, Firefighting system, Fire suppression system, water supply system, plumbing system, hood systems, ventilation systems, smoke management systems, etc.
  • Familiar with electrical systems specially lighting system, power low voltage and medium voltage systems, distribution and panel boards system, fire alarm system, public address system, cable tray system, motor control centers and control equipment, building management system, etc.
  • Familiar with tendering process including technical and financial data collection, evaluation until finally awarding
  • Good knowledge of sustainability needs and development.
