This role partners closely with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to ensure Cerner systems are effectively configured to support clinical workflows, improve patient care delivery, and meet organizational objectives. The position requires strong hands-on expertise in Cerner Command Language (CCL), Cerner clinical modules, and reporting platforms, along with the ability to provide advanced system support, lead enhancements, and contribute to large-scale EHR initiatives in a fast-paced clinical setting. Responsibilities:
  • Configure, implement, and optimize Cerner EHR applications aligned with clinical and operational workflows.
  • Build, test, and deploy Cerner modules including CPOE, PharmNet, Supply Chain, Registration, and Scheduling.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize CCL queries, reports, scripts, rules, and data extracts.
  • Design and build custom CCL programs for data retrieval, transformation, automation, and clinical reporting.
  • Support and enhance reporting solutions using Cerner DA2, PowerInsight, and related platforms.
  • Integrate CCL outputs with Cerner workflows such as PowerChart, CareNet, MPages, Event Sets, Rules, and Alerts where applicable.
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and support TEST/PROD promotions in line with change management processes.
  • Provide advanced application support, troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, operational teams, and IT to identify workflow improvements and system optimization opportunities.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Cerner-related projects, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for end users and create supporting documentation and user guides.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, and technical artifacts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting CCL programs in a Cerner Millennium environment.
  • Strong experience across Cerner clinical and operational modules.
  • Proven expertise in system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization within clinical environments.
  • Experience with change management, code promotion, and working across TEST and PROD environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver solutions in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical, operational, and IT teams.
  • Cerner certifications (e.g., CCL, PowerChart, Orders, SurgiNet).
  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, or healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Exposure to Python, Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics and reporting tools.
  • Experience working within large hospital systems or regional health networks.
