Job DescriptionA Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for an innovative research project on Form-Stable Phase Change Material (FSPCM) Composites for Thermal Management of Lithium-Ion Batteries in Extreme Climates. The project focuses on advancing sustainable thermal management solutions for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), particularly under high temperature conditions such as those experienced in the UAE. The research will address critical safety and performance challenges associated with thermal runaway in electric vehicle (EV) batteries by developing bio-waste–based, thermally enhanced phase change material composites. The work integrates experimental materials synthesis, thermo-physical characterization, and multiphysics simulations, followed by system-level integration into battery modules and testing under UAE relevant conditions. Applicants must hold a PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability Science and Technology, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Experience in phase change materials, thermal management systems, battery technologies, or multiphysics simulation is highly desirable. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project progress. Applications are accepted online only, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview.Minimum QualificationPhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Preferred Qualification
