- Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.
- Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.
- Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan and land development regulations.
- Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
- Conducts review of various development applications, including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezonings.
- Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
- Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.
- Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.
- Develops long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
- Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
- Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
- Recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.
- UAE National with a valid Family Book, required as part of our Emiratisation framework.
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, City & Regional Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in urban planning, community development, land use regulation, or similar work.
- Working knowledge of zoning regulations, land development guidelines, and planning processes.
- Experience reviewing development submissions such as plats, permits, site plans, variance applications, and rezoning requests.
- Ability to conduct detailed research and analysis, and translate findings into clear planning recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare and present technical reports, working papers, and formal correspondence.
- Ability to work effectively with community groups, government entities, developers, and elected officials.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify community issues, opportunities, and planning solutions.
- Proficiency in planning-related software or tools such as GIS, AutoCAD, or mapping/visualization applications.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
