Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.· Ensures that daily and weekly routine maintenance are performed by checking daily log and identifies anomalous situations, such as excessive use of lube oil, coolant or fuel, initiates or undertakes investigation to establish and remedy the cause.· Investigates breakdowns, assesses level of skill necessary to perform repairs and assigns work to subordinates or, alternatively, directs and participates personally in repairs. Determines spares/materials necessary and authorises issue from store or requests ordering from shore by completing necessary documents.· Completes log book and regular report showing machine running hours, problems encountered, tasks undertaken, materials/parts used, fuel and lubricant used.
