Languages: Arabic and EnglishSUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:The Psychological Counsellor will provide mental health support and psychological services to individuals of determination within the Inclusiveness Centre. The role focuses on supporting the emotional, psychological, and mental well-being of individuals, promoting inclusivity, and developing tailored therapeutic approaches. The counselor will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a supportive environment for individuals with diverse needs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct psychological assessments to identify individual needs and provide appropriate support plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to individuals of determination, addressing issues related to mental health, emotional well-being, academic stress, and personal development.
- Develop and implement tailored psychological interventions and support plans for individuals with varying levels of abilities.
- Use evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques to assist.
- Collaborate with other departments, academic staff, and external specialists to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and well-being across the university, ensuring that psychological services are accessible to all, especially those of determination.
- Advise on mental health accommodations and support for individuals with disabilities.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, and support groups to raise awareness about mental health issues, coping strategies, and self-care.
- Work closely with faculty, academic advisors, and student services to ensure holistic support.
- Collaborate with external mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, when needed.
- Maintain open communication with families, respect confidentiality, and ensure appropriate support.
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Inclusiveness Centre team to review cases and develop strategies for enhancing student well-being.
- A bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field is preferred, and a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Valid certification or license in psychological counseling or therapy.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in psychological counseling, preferably with individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Experience working in a university setting or educational institution is highly desirable.
