We are seeking a highly experienced Design Manager (Tunnels) to lead design activities for a major rail project in the UAE. This role involves managing tunnel and underground works design, coordinating multi-discipline teams, and ensuring timely delivery, authority approvals, and integration across geotechnical, structural, MEP, and rail systems.Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all tunnel and underground design activities, including TBM, NATM, and cut & cover methods
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across geotechnical, structural, MEP, and rail systems
Manage interfaces with stations, utilities, construction teams, and other project stakeholders
Ensure compliance with client specifications, UAE authority approvals, and relevant standards
Review and approve design submissions, technical calculations, and drawings
Monitor design progress, schedules, resources, and risk mitigation
Facilitate coordination meetings and ensure seamless integration between design, construction, and commissioning

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
12+ years of tunnel/underground rail design experience (TBM, NATM, cut & cover)
Proven experience in interface management across stations, utilities, rail systems, and construction
UAE/GCC project experience, including authority approvals (RTA/DM preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and design compliance procedures
Experience on high-speed rail, metro, or large transportation projects
Multinational project experience with complex stakeholder coordination
