The Estimator is responsible for developing detailed cost estimates based on engineering drawings, specifications, and project scope. This role supports project success by ensuring financial accuracy, identifying risks, and contributing to competitive bidding strategies.Key Responsibilities
- Prepare material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Review and validate quantity takeoffs to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Develop work breakdown structures to define project scope and cost elements
- Prepare detailed bases of estimate including assumptions, pricing, and exclusions
- Deliver comprehensive cost estimates aligned with contract requirements
- Apply top-down and bottom-up estimating methods based on project stage
- Compare estimates with historical project data for validation and benchmarking
- Prepare scope sheets and request quotations from vendors and subcontractors
- Support maintaining and updating estimating databases and cost records
- Identify potential risks and assess cost and schedule impact
- Provide guidance to junior estimators and support team coordination
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating activities
- Experience in infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, or tunnels
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, and specifications
- Ability to analyze costs and prepare detailed estimate reports
- Good communication and coordination skills
