A well-established UAE-based, Shariah-compliant insurer is looking to appoint a Head of Underwriting as part of its ongoing focus on strengthening underwriting discipline, portfolio performance, and sustainable growth.This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping underwriting strategy, governance, and risk appetite across the business, while working closely with key internal and external stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.The role

Lead underwriting strategy across relevant lines of business
Define and enforce underwriting standards, authority levels, and pricing discipline
Drive portfolio profitability and loss ratio performance
Partner closely with Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Reinsurance, and Distribution teams
Ensure compliance with regulatory and Shariah governance requirements
Build, mentor, and develop high-performing underwriting teams

What we're looking for

Senior underwriting leadership experience within Takaful or conventional insurance
Strong knowledge of the UAE insurance market and regulatory landscape
Proven ability to balance growth, risk, and profitability
Strategic mindset with hands-on underwriting credibility
Experience operating in a regulated, stakeholder-driven environment
