  • The Senior Field Engineer leads field validation and product-maturity activities for marine robotic systems, including multi-vehicle operations across USVs, AUVs, ROVs, and supporting platforms.
  • Operating within a development-to-deployment validation framework, this role ensures that both internally developed systems and commercial platforms are rigorously tested, verified, and validated in real operational environments before being approved for deployment.
  • The focus is on structured validation, risk management, system readiness approval, and technical leadership rather than direct piloting of vehicles.
Purpose of the Role
To ensure marine robotic platforms progress from development to fully validated, reliable operational products through disciplined field testing, structured reporting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate complex field validation campaigns aligned with project timelines and product-maturity objectives.
  • Lead offshore and nearshore validation of single-platform and multi-platform systems, maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance as the top priority.
  • Approve system readiness for sea trials and operational validation activities.
  • Conduct structured product-verification tasks, including performance benchmarking, stress testing, and failure-mode identification.
  • Oversee safe and controlled mobilization and demobilization processes.
  • Perform operational risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for field activities.
  • Serve as the technical escalation authority during validation campaigns and make mission-critical decisions, including mission abort when required.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, and HSE teams to ensure reliable execution of validation objectives.
  • Interface with manufacturers of commercial systems to ensure compliance with design intent and operational limitations.
  • Produce structured technical reports, including root-cause analyses, lessons learned, and actionable feedback for development teams.
  • Contribute to the development of validation frameworks, acceptance criteria, checklists, and product-readiness standards.
