Job Category: AdministrationJob Description:Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed by the registered nurse. Contribute to the general environment of the hospital and the well-being of the patient, families and team members as a member of the nursing team.Responsibilities:Assist patients with non-medical care and other ward-related duties as directed by and under the supervision of the nurse.Respond promptly to patients' or families' requests for assistance, prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.Attend call bells or alarms in patient rooms and report to the nurse accordingly.Conduct hourly patient rounding, checking on comfort and assistance needs.Receive non-clinical responsibilities each shift from the nurse.Assist the nurse with patient hygiene, elimination, mobility, physical comfort, and eating/drinking needs while reporting any changes to the licensed nurse.Clean trolleys before and after patient care; replace consumables used.Assist nurses in obtaining patients' height and weight measurements.Effectively assist in maintaining patient elimination.Know hospital-approved disinfectants and their usage indications.Clean biomedical equipment as per NMC RH Khalifa City policy.Help maintain cleanliness in patient rooms and nursing stations, ensuring surfaces, computers, and phones are cleaned daily and regularly throughout the shift.Collaborate with housekeeping to maintain departmental cleanliness, including kids' play areas.Check hand sanitizers at the start of the shift and notify housekeeping for replacement when needed.Liaise with nurses and patients in OPD to support satisfaction, provide updates on bed availability, and waiting times.Replace sharp containers when 2/3 full or upon expiry, per hospital policy.Ensure soiled utility room cleanliness; coordinate with laundry if hampers are full; maintain linen records (type and quantity).Collect clean linen from laundry.Assist in supply and storage area maintenance; clean supply boxes regularly (monthly or per routine).Maintain pantry cleanliness; collaborate with nurses and dietary team to remove unnecessary trays.Transport specimens to the laboratory.Comply with patient confidentiality policies.Act as a messenger when required.Escort stable patients by wheelchair or assist with bed transport to/from Radiology and other departments; assist in transporting patients to the operating theatre.Accompany discharged patients to exit points; assist maternity patients via wheelchair.Assist in preparing/cleaning patient rooms for admission/discharge; ensure supplies (e.g., tissues, water if allowed) are provided.Report lost or broken items/equipment to the nurse or in-charge when cleaning rooms after discharge.Ensure biomedical equipment is cleaned, returned to the equipment room, and plugged in after discharge.Arrange oxygen cylinders properly, secure in stands, and report empty ones to nurses.Inspect all departmental rooms daily and complete the environment checklist.Maintain records of borrowed items; follow up for return to prevent loss.Transport instruments for sterilization to CSSD (after nurse count); collect sterilized items from CSSD.Check CSSD sets monthly for expiry; report damaged packaging.Ensure curtains are maintained, washed per hospital policy, and that spare curtains are available; keep related records.Collect general and stationery items from stores and medications from the pharmacy.Participate in scheduled educational activities.Comply with OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures; cooperate with hospital management to meet requirements.Work in line with documented OSH procedures and instructions.Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.Be familiar with applicable patient safety goals.Notify nurses of OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, or concerns.Comply with waste management and transmission-based precaution policies.Assist nurses with departmental inventories.Attend OSH/Infection control training, mock drills, and awareness programs.Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
  • Some High school or Equivalent
  • Intermediate English skills preferred. Spoken Arabic advantageous.
  • Demonstrate motivation to work in a health care environment.
