The Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon is responsible for delivering specialized surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart conditions, ensuring high standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced paediatric cardiac surgeries including open-heart procedures, valve repairs, and correction of congenital defects
- Manage pre-operative evaluations, surgical planning, and post-operative care including ICU oversight
- Collaborate with paediatric cardiologists, anaesthesiologists, and critical care teams for integrated patient management
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency surgical interventions
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and fellows
- Contribute to research, clinical audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation aligned with hospital standards
- Medical degree with specialization in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery from a recognized institution
- Board certification such as FRCS, American Board, or equivalent
- Minimum 5-10 years of post-fellowship experience in paediatric cardiac surgery
- Proven track record in complex surgical procedures within high-volume centers
- Strong leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
- Paediatric cardiac surgical techniques
