The Surveyor is responsible for planning and conducting site surveys, establishing control points, verifying measurements, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining precise records. The role ensures construction activities conform to contract documents and project requirements, supporting timely delivery and quality outcomes.Key Responsibilities
- Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and health and safety requirements
- Perform survey work under the direction of the Resident Engineer
- Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points with reference ties
- Develop and verify survey data including measurements and calculations
- Record measurements, rod readings, and calculations accurately in field books
- Coordinate with contractor surveyors on priorities and schedules
- Complete traverse closures and bench circuits to check accuracy
- Report discrepancies and technical issues to the team leader
- Perform joint measurements for completed works and payment verification
- Check completed works for conformance to approved lines and grades with inspectors
- Verify contractor setting-out accuracy through regular checks
- Maintain survey equipment and perform routine calibration checks
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, charts, and survey records
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, and property boundaries
- Coordinate findings with engineering, architectural teams, and clients
- Plan and conduct ground surveys for baselines, elevations, and geodetic measurements
