The Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing project costs, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting financial decision-making throughout the construction lifecycle. This role contributes to maintaining profitability, controlling risks, and ensuring transparent commercial operations.Key Responsibilities
- Measure and price works based on drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities
- Manage post-contract activities including interim payments, final accounts, and variations
- Prepare and review contractual correspondence and commercial documentation
- Advise on contract terms, risks, and compliance requirements
- Monitor contractor performance and resource allocation from a commercial perspective
- Audit contractor payments and ensure accuracy of submitted valuations
- Track project costs and maintain expenditure records
- Prepare variations, claims, and day-work assessments
- Negotiate and finalize claim settlements with contractors
- Prepare monthly financial reports and cost forecasts
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure commercial alignment
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in infrastructure or construction projects
- Strong knowledge of pre and post-contract administration
- Experience handling claims, variations, and contract negotiations
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Good communication and coordination abilities
